The Sun Hydraulics PVJDLAV (PVJDLAV) is a ventable, pilot-operated pressure reducing/relieving valve designed to regulate high primary pressures at the inlet and maintain a consistent reduced pressure at port 1. It features a full-flow relief function from port 1 to tank port 3. The valve is equipped with a vent port, port 4, which allows for remote control via pilot or two-way valves. The pressure at port 3 adds directly to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio, with a maximum limit of 3000 psi (210 bar). This model is not fast-acting due to its pilot-operated nature; for applications requiring superior dynamic response, direct-acting valves are recommended. However, it offers low deadband transition between reducing and relieving modes and maintains exceptionally flat pressure-flow characteristics with high stability and low hysteresis. The PVJDLAV is constructed using Sun's floating style design to minimize internal part binding caused by excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. It fits into Cavity T-24A Series 4 and has a capacity of up to 80 gpm (320 L/min). The factory pressure settings are established with the control port blocked dead-headed. It can operate at a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) with control pilot flow ranging from 15\u201320 in\u00b3/min (0.25\u20130.33 L/min). The valve's adjustment requires up to five clockwise turns to increase the setting, with specific torque requirements for installation and locknut adjustments. The PVJDLAV comes with Viton seals as standard in its cartridge seal kit (990024006) and weighs approximately 3.10 lb (1.40 kg), making it suitable for various hydraulic applications where precise pressure control and reliability are critical factors.

Ventable, pilot-operated pressure reducing/relieving valves reduce a high primary pressure at the inlet to a constant reduced pressure at port 1, with a full-flow relief function from port 1 to tank (port 3). The vent port (port 4) can be used as a means for remote control by pilot or 2-way valves.
- Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 3000 psi (210 bar).
- Pilot operated reducing, reducing/relieving valves by nature are not fast acting valves. For superior dynamic response, consider direct acting valves.
- Pilot operated valves exhibit very low dead-band transition between reducing and relieving modes.
- Recommended maximum inlet pressure is determined by the adjustment range. Ranges D, E, N, and Q are tested with a 2000 psi (140 bar) maximum differential between inlet and reduced pressure. Ranges A, B, and H are tested with a 3000 psi (210 bar) maximum differential between inlet and reduced pressure. Ranges C and W are tested with 5000 psi (350 bar) of inlet pressure.
- Pilot operated valves exhibit exceptionally flat pressure/flow characteristics, are very stable and have low hysteresis.
- By controlling the pressure at the vent (port 4), the effective setting of the valve can be controlled below the nominal valve setting.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
