The Sun Hydraulics RBADCBN (RBADCBN) is a direct-acting, pilot relief cartridge designed to incorporate back-to-back check valves. This configuration allows the valve to remotely control two other pilot-operated valves or serve as a thermal relief for both ends of an actuator. It is particularly suitable for load holding applications due to its ability to prevent overpressure caused by thermal expansion of the fluid. The back-to-back check valves are crucial in preventing cross talk between the two remote-controlled valves, and one adjustment can control both valves simultaneously. The valve's check cracking pressure is set at 15 psi (1 bar), and any pressure at port 3 adds directly to the valve setting. The RBADCBN features Sun's floating style construction, minimizing the risk of internal parts binding from excessive installation torque or variations in cavity-cartridge machining. It has a capacity of 0.25 gpm (1 L/min) and a typical response time of 2 milliseconds, with maximum leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) being 5 drops/minute (0.3 cc/min). Adjustments can be made with up to five clockwise turns to increase settings, utilizing an internal hex size of 5/32 inches (4 mm). The valve's hex size measures 7/8 inches (22.2 mm), requiring an installation torque between 30 and 35 lbf ft (41 and 47 Nm). The locknut has a hex size of 9/16 inches (15 mm) and should be torqued between 80 and 90 lbf in (9 and 10 Nm). For sealing, it uses Viton seal kits, specifically part number 990011006.

This direct-acting, pilot relief cartridge incorporates back-to-back check valves. This allows it to remotely control 2 other pilot-operated valves or act as a thermal relief for both ends of an actuator. Because capacity is limited to pilot flow, this valve should be used with other valves with comparable pilot flows.
- The back-to-back check valves prevent cross talk between the two valves that are being remote controlled.
- One adjustment controls two valves.
- Check cracking pressure is 15 psi (1 bar).
- Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the valve setting.
- Suitable for load holding applications
- The term thermal relief means it prevents overpressure due to thermal expansion of the fluid.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
