The Sun Hydraulics RBAECBN (RBAECBN) is a two-port, pilot-stage, direct-acting relief cartridge designed for precision pressure regulation in hydraulic systems. This fully adjustable, normally closed valve opens a flow path from port 1 to port 2 when the inlet pressure at port 1 exceeds the preset spring force. It employs the Sun T-8A two-port cavity, making it ideal for use alongside Sun's main stage pilot or vent-to-operate cartridges, eliminating the need for separate pilot lines and requiring only one machined cavity to accommodate both control and primary functions. The valve's design includes hardened poppet and seat components that ensure consistent operation with low leakage rates and superior wear resistance. It can handle pressures at both ports up to 5000 psi (350 bar), with backpressure at port 2 directly adding to the pressure setting at port 1. The RBAECBN is capable of handling a flow capacity of up to 2.5 gpm (10 L/min) with a typical response time of just 2 milliseconds. The maximum valve leakage is rated at 15 drops per minute under specific conditions. For installations using phosphate ester fluids, cartridges configured with EPDM seals should be used; however, these seals are not compatible with petroleum-based fluids or greases. The Sun floating style construction minimizes potential internal binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations in the cavity/cartridge interface. The valve features an internal hex adjustment screw and locknut for secure adjustments, with specified installation torques ensuring optimal performance and reliability in demanding applications such as preventing overpressure scenarios in hydraulic circuits.

Two-port, pilot-stage, direct-acting relief cartridges are fully adjustable, normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at port 1 (inlet) is sufficient to overcome the spring force (valve setting), a flow path is opened from port 1 to port 2 (tank).
- Utilizes the Sun T-8A 2-port cavity making it the ideal choice to use in conjunction with Sun's main stage pilot or vent-to-operate cartridges. Separate pilot lines are eliminated and only one cavity needs to be machined to accommodate both the control and primary function. Note: All 2-position, 2-way pilot stage control cartridges utilize the same cavity and are physically interchangeable. Functionality is the only consideration.
- Note: The main stage valve should first be installed to the correct torque value followed by the T-8A pilot control section into the main stage valve to its required torque value.
- Ports 1 and 2 may be pressured to 5000 psi (350 bar).
- Hardened poppet and seat provide consistent operation, low leakage rates and superior wear characteristics.
- Backpressure at port 2 (outlet) is directly additive to the pressure setting at port 1 (inlet).
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
