The Sun Hydraulics RBAEKAN (RBAEKAN) is a two-port, pilot-stage, direct-acting relief cartridge designed for pressure regulation applications. This normally closed valve becomes operational when the inlet pressure at port 1 surpasses the spring force setting, creating a flow path to port 2, which serves as the tank. It utilizes the Sun T8A 2-port cavity, making it an excellent choice for integration with Sun's main stage pilot or vent-to-operate cartridges. This design eliminates the need for separate pilot lines and requires only one cavity to accommodate both control and primary functions. All 2-position, 2-way pilot stage control cartridges are interchangeable within this cavity based on functionality. The valve supports maximum pressures of up to 5000 psi (350 bar) at both ports and features hardened poppet and seat components for consistent operation, low leakage rates, and enhanced wear characteristics. Backpressure at port 2 directly affects the pressure setting at port 1. Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids but should not be exposed to petroleum-based fluids as this will damage the seals. The floating style construction minimizes internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. This cartridge has a capacity of 2.5 gpm (10 L/min) with factory pressure settings established at a flow rate of 30 cc/min. It boasts a typical response time of just 2 milliseconds and a maximum valve leakage rate of 15 drops/min (1 cc/min) at fluid viscosity of 110 SUS (24 cSt). Installation requires specific torque values: the main stage should be installed first followed by the T8A pilot control section.
