The Sun Hydraulics RBAEKEV (RBAEKEV) is a two-port, pilot-stage, direct-acting relief cartridge designed to serve as a fully adjustable, normally closed pressure regulating valve. It operates by opening a flow path from port 1 to port 2 when the inlet pressure at port 1 surpasses the set spring force. This cartridge utilizes the Sun T8A two-port cavity, making it ideal for use with Sun's main stage pilot or vent-to-operate cartridges. This design eliminates the need for separate pilot lines and requires only one cavity to accommodate both control and primary functions. The valve supports pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar) at ports 1 and 2, featuring hardened poppet and seat components that ensure consistent operation, low leakage rates, and superior wear characteristics. The backpressure at port 2 is directly additive to the pressure setting at port 1. The RBAEKEV incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize potential binding of internal parts due to excessive installation torque or machining variations in cavity/cartridge interfaces. It is configured with EPDM seals suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids; however, exposure to petroleum-based fluids can damage these seals. The valve has a capacity of 2.5 gpm (10 L/min), with factory pressure settings established at a flow rate of 2 in\u00b3/min (30 cc/min). It features a typical response time of approximately 2 ms and maximum valve leakage of about 15 drops/min (1 cc/min) at an oil viscosity of 110 SUS (24 cSt).
