The Sun Hydraulics RBAELAE (RBAELAE) is a two-port, pilot-stage, direct-acting relief cartridge designed as a fully adjustable, normally closed pressure regulating valve. When the inlet pressure at port 1 surpasses the valve's spring force setting, a flow path opens from port 1 to port 2, directing the flow to the tank. This cartridge utilizes the Sun T8A two-port cavity, making it ideal for use with Sun's main stage pilot or vent-to-operate cartridges. This design eliminates separate pilot lines and requires only one cavity to accommodate both control and primary functions. The valve features hardened poppet and seat components for consistent operation, low leakage rates, and superior wear resistance. It can handle pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar) for both ports 1 and 2. The backpressure at port 2 is directly additive to the pressure setting at port 1. Cartridges with EPDM seals are suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids but are not compatible with petroleum-based fluids or lubricants. The floating style construction minimizes internal component binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations in the cavity/cartridge interface. Key specifications include a capacity of 2.5 gpm (10 L/min), a typical response time of 2 ms, and maximum valve leakage of 15 drops/min (1 cc/min) at 110 SUS (24 cSt). Installation requires specific torques: main stage valve torque of 20-25 lbf ft (27-33 Nm), adjustment screw internal hex size of 5/32 in. (4 mm), locknut hex size of 9/16 in.
