The Sun Hydraulics RBAELWE (RBAELWE) is a two-port, pilot-stage, direct-acting relief cartridge designed for pressure regulation in hydraulic systems. This fully adjustable valve operates as a normally closed pressure regulator, opening a flow path from port 1 to port 2 when the inlet pressure at port 1 exceeds the spring force setting. It utilizes the Sun T8A two-port cavity, making it ideal for integration with Sun's main stage pilot or vent-to-operate cartridges, eliminating the need for separate pilot lines and requiring only one cavity for both control and primary functions. The valve's ports can handle pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar), and it features hardened poppet and seat components that ensure consistent operation, low leakage rates, and enhanced wear resistance. The RBAELWE model incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. It is configured with EPDM seals suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids; however, exposure to petroleum-based fluids will damage these seals. The valve has a capacity of 2.5 gpm (10 L/min) and offers a typical response time of 2 ms with maximum valve leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) being limited to 15 drops/min (1 cc/min). The installation requires specific torque values: the main stage valve should be installed first followed by the T8A pilot control section. Key dimensions include a valve hex size of 7/8 inch (22.2 mm), an adjustment screw internal hex size of 5/32 inch (4 mm), and a locknut hex size of 9/16 inch (15 mm).
