The Sun Hydraulics RBAEODN (RBAEODN) is a highly efficient two-port, pilot-stage, direct-acting relief cartridge designed for pressure regulation applications. This normally closed valve opens a flow path from port 1 to port 2 once the inlet pressure at port 1 surpasses the preset spring force. It utilizes the Sun T8A two-port cavity, making it an optimal choice for integration with Sun's main stage pilot or vent-to-operate cartridges, eliminating the need for separate pilot lines and reducing machining requirements to a single cavity. The valve can withstand pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar) at both ports and features hardened poppet and seat components to ensure consistent operation, minimal leakage, and enhanced durability. The backpressure at port 2 is directly additive to the pressure setting at port 1 inlet. This cartridge is equipped with EPDM seals suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids; however, exposure to petroleum-based substances will damage these seals. Its floating style construction minimizes risks of internal binding due to excessive torque or machining variations. The RBAEODN has a capacity of 2.5 gpm (10 L/min) and a typical response time of 2 ms. Maximum valve leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) is limited to 15 drops/min (1 cc/min). Installation requires specific torque values: valve installation torque is between 20-25 lbf ft (27-33 Nm), adjustment screw internal hex size is 5/32 in. (4 mm), locknut hex size is 9/16 in. (15 mm), and locknut torque ranges from 80-90 lbf in. (9-10 Nm).
