The Sun Hydraulics RBATFAV (RBATFAV) is a direct-acting, pilot relief cartridge valve designed to remotely control the pressure setting of other pilot-operated valves. These valves are particularly suited for load-holding applications and should be used with higher flow valves due to their limited capacity to pilot flow. The valve features a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, ensuring durability and reliability in various applications. It incorporates Sun's floating style construction, which minimizes the risk of internal parts binding from excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. The RBATFAV model is housed in a T-10A cavity series 1 with a capacity of 0.25 gpm (1 L/min) and can operate at a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The typical response time is fast at just 2 milliseconds, and it maintains low leakage rates, with maximum valve leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) being only 5 drops/min (0.3 cc/min). The adjustment for increasing settings involves five clockwise turns, while installation requires specific torque values: valve hex size is 7/8 inch (22.2 mm), installation torque ranges from 30 to 35 lbf-ft (41 to 47 Nm), adjustment screw internal hex size is 5/32 inch (4 mm), locknut hex size is 9/16 inch (15 mm), and locknut torque ranges from 80 to 90 lbf-in (9 to 10 Nm). Weighing just .30 lb (.15 kg), this model also offers an optional Viton seal kit for enhanced performance under specific conditions.

Direct-acting, pilot relief cartridges are used to remotely control the pressure setting of other pilot-operated valves. Because capacity is limited to pilot flow, these valves should be used with other higher flow valves.

  • Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
  • Suitable for use in load holding applications.
  • Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
