The Sun Hydraulics RBATFWN (RBATFWN) is a direct-acting, pilot relief cartridge designed to remotely control the pressure setting of other pilot-operated valves. This valve is particularly suitable for load holding applications due to its robust design and ability to handle a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The main stage orifice is protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, which enhances its durability and reliability. The valve's floating style construction minimizes the risk of internal parts binding, even when faced with excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. With a capacity of 0.25 gpm (1 L/min), it should be used in conjunction with higher flow valves as it is limited to pilot flow. The RBATFWN model features a response time of approximately 2 milliseconds and has a maximum valve leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) of 5 drops/minute (0.3 cc/min). The adjustment mechanism allows for fine-tuning with up to five clockwise turns needed to increase the setting, using an adjustment screw with an internal hex size of 5/32 inches (4 mm). Installation requires a valve hex size of 7/8 inches (22.2 mm) and torque between 30-35 lbf-ft (41-47 Nm). Additionally, the locknut has a hex size of 9/16 inches (15 mm) and requires torque between 80-90 lbf-in (9-10 Nm). This cartridge weighs approximately 0.30 lb (0.15 kg) and utilizes Viton seals for enhanced performance under various conditions.

Direct-acting, pilot relief cartridges are used to remotely control the pressure setting of other pilot-operated valves. Because capacity is limited to pilot flow, these valves should be used with other higher flow valves.

  • Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
  • Suitable for use in load holding applications.
  • Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
