The Sun Hydraulics RBFACCV (RBFACCV) is a bidirectional, direct-acting relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve begins to open and throttle flow when the pressure differential between ports 1 and 2 exceeds the valve setting, effectively limiting the pressure rise regardless of flow direction. Both directions exhibit similar performance characteristics. The internal modulation of this valve makes it resistant to cavitation-related issues such as noise and manifold erosion. Adjustment of the valve requires that the pressure be removed, or port 2 can be used for setting adjustments. The valve is relatively insensitive to changes in oil temperature and contamination, ensuring consistent performance across varying conditions. For optimal repeatability, select a spring range where the desired relief setting is midrange to high between its minimum and maximum pressures. All two-port relief cartridges are interchangeable with the same flow path and cavity for a given frame size due to their Sun floating style construction, which minimizes internal binding risks. The RBFACCV features a T-3A cavity series with a capacity of 30 gpm (120 L/min) and operates at a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). Its typical response time is 2 ms, with maximum leakage at reseat limited to 30 drops/minute. The valve reseats at 85% of its set value with a hysteresis of about 3%. For installation, it requires a torque specification between 45-50 lbf ft (61-68 Nm), using Viton seals available in kit number 990303006.
