The Sun Hydraulics RDBACCV (RDBACCV) is a direct-acting relief cartridge valve designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve activates when the inlet port pressure reaches its set threshold, opening to the tank port and throttling flow to control pressure rise. The valve is engineered for smooth, quiet operation with near-zero leakage and is highly resistant to dirt and silting. It features a rapid response time of approximately 2 milliseconds and can handle a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The RDBACCV valve is physically and functionally interchangeable with other 2-port relief cartridges of similar frame size, making it versatile for various applications including cross port relief circuits and load holding scenarios. This model accepts maximum pressure at port 2, with back pressure on the tank port directly adding to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. The seals on the adjustment screw are exposed to system pressure; therefore, adjustments should be made when the system is unpressurized. For optimal performance, select a spring range where the desired relief setting falls between midrange to high within its minimum and maximum limits. It incorporates Sun's floating style construction, minimizing internal binding risks due to installation torque or machining variations. The RDBACCV has a capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min) with factory settings established at 4 gpm (15 L/min). It features an installation torque range of 20-25 lbf ft (27-33 Nm) and comes equipped with Viton seals compatible with phosphate ester fluids but not petroleum-based fluids. This robust design makes it relatively insensitive to oil temperature variations and contamination, ensuring reliable performance across diverse hydraulic systems.

Direct-acting relief cartridges are normally closed, pressure-limiting valves used to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to limit the pressure rise. These valves are smooth and quiet, essentially zero leak, dirt tolerant, immune to silting and are very fast.

  • All 2-port relief cartridges (except pilot reliefs) are physically and functionally interchangeable (same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
  • Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits.
  • The seals on the adjust screw are exposed to system pressure which means this valve can only be adjusted when the pressure is removed. The setting procedure is; check the setting, remove the pressure, adjust the valve, check the new setting.
  • Valve is relatively insensitive to varying oil temperatures and oil borne contamination.
  • Select a spring range where the desired relief setting is approximately mid-range to high between the minimum and maximum pressure to ensure maximum valve repeatability.
  • Suitable for use in load holding applications.
  • Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
