The Sun Hydraulics RDBAKBV (Material Number: RDBAKBV) is a direct-acting relief cartridge designed to safeguard hydraulic components from pressure transients by limiting pressure rise through throttling flow when the inlet port pressure reaches the valve's set threshold. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve is engineered for smooth and quiet operation with virtually zero leakage, making it highly dirt-tolerant and immune to silting. It offers rapid response times, typically around 2 milliseconds, and maintains performance despite varying oil temperatures and contamination levels. The valve's construction allows it to be physically and functionally interchangeable with other 2-port relief cartridges of the same frame size, except pilot reliefs. Capable of handling a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), the RDBAKBV is suitable for use in cross-port relief circuits and load-holding applications. It accepts maximum pressure at port 2, with back pressure on this tank port directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. This cartridge valve features an adjustment screw that requires system pressure removal before adjustment can be made, ensuring precise setting changes. For optimal repeatability, selecting a spring range where the desired relief setting is midrange to high between minimum and maximum pressures is recommended. The RDBAKBV incorporates Sun's floating style construction to reduce internal part binding due to installation torque or machining variations. It has a capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min) and uses EPDM seals suitable for phosphate ester fluid systems but not compatible with petroleum-based fluids.
