The Sun Hydraulics RDDA3AV (Material Number: RDDA3AV) is a non-adjustable direct-acting relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients by limiting pressure rise through throttling flow when the inlet port reaches the set valve pressure. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve is characterized by its smooth and quiet operation, zero leakage, dirt tolerance, and rapid response time of approximately 2 milliseconds. It is particularly suitable for load-holding applications and can withstand maximum pressure at port 2, making it ideal for cross-port relief circuits. The valve operates effectively even under varying oil temperatures and contamination levels due to its insensitivity to such conditions. The RDDA3AV model features a capacity of 25 gallons per minute (95 liters per minute) with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). It incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal binding risks due to installation torque or machining variations. The valve is factory-set and tamper-proof, requiring customers to specify their desired settings within the spring range for optimal repeatability. Additionally, backpressure on the tank port directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. This cartridge fits into cavity T-10A Series 1 and has a compact design with a valve hex size of 7/8 inch (22.2 mm) and an installation torque range of 30\u201335 lbf-ft (41\u201347 Nm). Its maximum leakage rate at reseat is limited to 10 drops per minute (0.7 cc/min), ensuring efficient performance with reseat occurring at 90% of the setting. The model weighs approximately .30 lb (.15 kg) and supports Viton seal kits for enhanced durability in various hydraulic systems.

Non-adjustable direct-acting relief cartridges are normally closed, pressure-limiting valves used to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to limit the pressure rise. These valves are smooth and quiet, essentially zero leak, dirt tolerant, immune to silting and are very fast.
- Customer must specfy setting. The valve will be factory set and is tamper proof.
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits.
- Valve is relatively insensitive to varying oil temperatures and oil borne contamination.
- Select a spring range where the desired relief setting is approximately mid-range to high between the minimum and maximum pressure to ensure maximum valve repeatability.
- Suitable for use in load holding applications.
- Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
- All 2-port relief cartridges (except pilot reliefs) are physically and functionally interchangeable (same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
