The Sun Hydraulics RDDA3DN (RDDA3DN) is a nonadjustable direct-acting relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This valve is normally closed and functions as a pressure-limiting device, opening to tank port 2 when the inlet port 1 pressure reaches the set threshold. It throttles flow to control pressure rise effectively. The RDDA3DN is characterized by its smooth and quiet operation, essentially zero leakage, dirt tolerance, immunity to silting, and rapid response time of approximately 2 milliseconds. Customers must specify the desired setting, which will be factory-set and tamper-proof. This cartridge can handle maximum pressure at port 2 and is suitable for cross-port relief circuits and load-holding applications. It remains relatively insensitive to variations in oil temperature and contamination. To ensure maximum repeatability, it is recommended to select a spring range where the relief setting falls between midrange and high within the minimum and maximum pressures. The back pressure on tank port 2 adds directly to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. All two-port relief cartridges, except pilot reliefs, are interchangeable with the same flow path and cavity for a given frame size. The Sun floating style construction minimizes internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations in cavity/cartridge interfaces. The valve features a capacity of 25 gpm (95 L/min), with factory pressure settings established at 4 gpm (15 L/min). It has a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and a reseat capability of 90% of the setting with minimal leakage at reseat levels\u201410 drops/minute (0.7 cc/min). The RDDA3DN has a valve hex size of 7/8 inch (22.2 mm) and an installation torque requirement of 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm). The model weighs .30 lb (.15 kg) and uses Viton seal kits under part number: 990310006.

Non-adjustable direct-acting relief cartridges are normally closed, pressure-limiting valves used to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to limit the pressure rise. These valves are smooth and quiet, essentially zero leak, dirt tolerant, immune to silting and are very fast.
- Customer must specfy setting. The valve will be factory set and is tamper proof.
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits.
- Valve is relatively insensitive to varying oil temperatures and oil borne contamination.
- Select a spring range where the desired relief setting is approximately mid-range to high between the minimum and maximum pressure to ensure maximum valve repeatability.
- Suitable for use in load holding applications.
- Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
- All 2-port relief cartridges (except pilot reliefs) are physically and functionally interchangeable (same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
