The Sun Hydraulics RDDACCV (RDDACCV) is a direct-acting relief cartridge designed to safeguard hydraulic components from pressure spikes by limiting pressure rise. When the inlet port 1 reaches the set pressure, the valve opens to tank port 2, throttling flow. This valve is noted for its smooth, quiet operation and virtually zero leakage, making it highly dirt tolerant and immune to silting. It can handle maximum pressure at port 2 and is suitable for cross-port relief circuits. The valve's adjustment screw seals are exposed to system pressure, requiring adjustment only when pressure is removed. It is relatively insensitive to oil temperature variations and contamination, ensuring reliable performance in load-holding applications. The back pressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. The cartridge features Sun's floating style construction to reduce internal binding risks due to installation torque or machining variations. The RDDACCV fits into a T-10A cavity with a Series 1 capacity of up to 25 gpm (95 L/min) and can operate at pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar). It has a typical response time of 2 ms and a maximum leakage rate of 10 drops/min at reseat. The valve reseats at 90% of its set value, with adjustments made by turning the screw clockwise up to six turns for increased settings. Installation requires specific torque settings: valve hex size is .78 in (22.2 mm) with an installation torque of 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm), while locknut hex size is .916 in (15 mm) with a locknut torque of 80-90 lbf in (9-10 Nm). The model weighs .30 lb (.15 kg) and uses Viton seal kits part number 990310006 for optimal performance with phosphate ester fluids while avoiding petroleum-based substances that could damage EPDM seals.

Direct-acting relief cartridges are normally closed, pressure-limiting valves used to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to limit the pressure rise. These valves are smooth and quiet, essentially zero leak, dirt tolerant, immune to silting and are very fast.
- All 2-port relief cartridges (except pilot reliefs) are physically and functionally interchangeable (same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits.
- The seals on the adjust screw are exposed to system pressure which means this valve can only be adjusted when the pressure is removed. The setting procedure is; check the setting, remove the pressure, adjust the valve, check the new setting.
- Valve is relatively insensitive to varying oil temperatures and oil borne contamination.
- Select a spring range where the desired relief setting is approximately mid-range to high between the minimum and maximum pressure to ensure maximum valve repeatability.
- Suitable for use in load holding applications.
- Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
