The Sun Hydraulics RDDACSN (RDDACSN) is a direct-acting relief cartridge valve designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients by limiting pressure rise. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens to the tank port when the inlet port pressure reaches the valve setting, throttling flow smoothly and quietly. It is essentially zero leak, dirt tolerant, immune to silting, and operates with a rapid response time of approximately 2 milliseconds. The valve is suitable for use in load-holding applications and cross-port relief circuits due to its capability to accept maximum pressure at port 2. It features a floating style construction that minimizes internal part binding risks caused by excessive installation torque or machining variations. The RDDACSN is interchangeable with other 2-port relief cartridges of the same frame size due to its consistent flow path and cavity design. It can be adjusted only when system pressure is removed, with seals on the adjust screw exposed to system pressure. The adjustment process involves checking the setting, removing pressure, adjusting the valve, and rechecking the new setting. Backpressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. Constructed for reliability under varying oil temperatures and contamination levels, this model incorporates EPDM seals suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids but not petroleum-based fluids or lubricants. The cartridge has a capacity of 25 gpm (95 L/min) with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). It features a factory-set pressure at 4 gpm (15 L/min) and maintains maximum valve leakage at reseat at just 10 drops per minute (0.7 cc/min), achieving reseat at 90% of its setting.
