The Sun Hydraulics RDDACSV (Material Number: RDDACSV) is a direct-acting relief cartridge valve designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens to the tank port when the inlet pressure reaches the set threshold, throttling flow to limit further pressure rise. Known for their smooth and quiet operation, these valves are essentially zero-leak, dirt-tolerant, and immune to silting. They offer rapid response times of approximately 2 milliseconds and have a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The RDDACSV model is suitable for use in load-holding applications and cross-port relief circuits due to its ability to accept maximum pressure at port 2. The valve features a floating style construction that minimizes internal binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. It is relatively insensitive to changes in oil temperatures and contamination, ensuring consistent performance. Adjustments are made by removing system pressure first; the seals on the adjust screw are exposed to system pressure during operation. The valve's adjustment range should be selected so that the desired relief setting falls between midrange and high of the spring's capacity for optimal repeatability. This model can handle a capacity of 25 gpm (95 L/min) with a reseat percentage of 90% of the setting, and it has virtually no leakage at reseat with only 10 drops per minute (0.7 cc/min). For systems using phosphate ester fluids, cartridges with EPDM seals are recommended as exposure to petroleum-based fluids can damage these seals. The installation torque ranges from 30-35 lbf-ft (41-47 Nm), highlighting its robust design suitable for demanding applications.
