The Sun Hydraulics RDDAFAN (RDDAFAN) is a high-performance direct-acting relief cartridge valve designed to protect hydraulic systems from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens to the tank port when inlet pressure reaches the valve setting, effectively throttling flow and limiting pressure rise. Known for its smooth operation, zero leakage, and dirt tolerance, this valve is exceptionally fast and immune to silting. It is interchangeable with other 2-port relief cartridges of the same frame size and flow path. The RDDAFAN can handle maximum pressure at port 2, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits. The valve's adjustment screw seals are exposed to system pressure; thus, adjustments must be made with no system pressure applied. The recommended practice is to check the setting, relieve system pressure before adjusting, and then verify the new setting. Direct-acting relief cartridges are normally closed, pressure-limiting valves used to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to limit the pressure rise. These valves are smooth and quiet, essentially zero leak, dirt tolerant, immune to silting and are very fast.
