The Sun Hydraulics RDDAJCV (Material Number: RDDAJCV) is a direct-acting relief cartridge valve designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens to the tank port when the inlet pressure reaches the set point, effectively throttling flow to limit pressure rise. It features a smooth and quiet operation with virtually zero leakage and is highly tolerant of dirt and silting. The valve's design allows for physical and functional interchangeability across all 2-port relief cartridges, except pilot reliefs, maintaining consistent flow paths and cavity sizes for a given frame size. The RDDAJCV can handle maximum pressure at port 2, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits and load-holding applications. It is relatively insensitive to oil temperature variations and contamination, ensuring reliable performance under diverse conditions. The adjustment process involves checking the setting, removing system pressure, adjusting the valve, and verifying the new setting due to seals on the adjust screw being exposed to system pressure. With a capacity of 25 gpm (95 L/min) and a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), this valve provides rapid response times typically around 2 ms. The backpressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. For systems utilizing phosphate ester fluids, cartridges configured with EPDM seals are recommended as they prevent damage from petroleum-based substances. Incorporating Sun's floating style construction minimizes internal part binding risks due to excessive installation torque or machining variations in cavity/cartridge setups. The RDDAJCV has a factory pressure setting established at 4 gpm (15 L/min) with reseat capability at 90% of the set value. Its robust design ensures durability while offering precise control over hydraulic system pressures.

Direct-acting relief cartridges are normally closed, pressure-limiting valves used to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to limit the pressure rise. These valves are smooth and quiet, essentially zero leak, dirt tolerant, immune to silting and are very fast.

  • All 2-port relief cartridges (except pilot reliefs) are physically and functionally interchangeable (same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
  • Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits.
  • The seals on the adjust screw are exposed to system pressure which means this valve can only be adjusted when the pressure is removed. The setting procedure is; check the setting, remove the pressure, adjust the valve, check the new setting.
  • Valve is relatively insensitive to varying oil temperatures and oil borne contamination.
  • Select a spring range where the desired relief setting is approximately mid-range to high between the minimum and maximum pressure to ensure maximum valve repeatability.
  • Suitable for use in load holding applications.
  • Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
