The Sun Hydraulics RDDAQBV (Material Number: RDDAQBV) is a direct-acting relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens to the tank port when the inlet pressure reaches the set point, effectively throttling flow to limit pressure rise. The valve offers smooth and quiet operation with nearly zero leakage and is highly tolerant of dirt, making it immune to silting and providing rapid response times. It is physically and functionally interchangeable with other 2-port relief cartridges of the same frame size, allowing for versatile application in cross-port relief circuits. The RDDAQBV is suitable for load-holding applications and can handle maximum pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar). Its design ensures reliability even under varying oil temperatures and contamination levels. The valve's adjustment requires system pressure to be removed first, following a procedure of checking the setting, removing pressure, adjusting, and rechecking. It incorporates Sun\u2019s floating style construction to minimize internal binding due to installation torque or machining variations. This cartridge features a capacity of 25 gpm (95 L/min) and has a typical response time of 2 ms. It is configured with EPDM seals for compatibility with phosphate ester fluids but should not be exposed to petroleum-based substances. The valve's backpressure at the tank port adds directly to its setting at a 1:1 ratio. For optimal performance, it\u2019s recommended that users select a spring range where desired settings fall mid-to-high within the specified limits for repeatability. Additionally, this model includes specific installation torque requirements and comes with a Viton seal kit option for enhanced durability in various applications.

Direct-acting relief cartridges are normally closed, pressure-limiting valves used to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to limit the pressure rise. These valves are smooth and quiet, essentially zero leak, dirt tolerant, immune to silting and are very fast.

  • All 2-port relief cartridges (except pilot reliefs) are physically and functionally interchangeable (same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
  • Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits.
  • The seals on the adjust screw are exposed to system pressure which means this valve can only be adjusted when the pressure is removed. The setting procedure is; check the setting, remove the pressure, adjust the valve, check the new setting.
  • Valve is relatively insensitive to varying oil temperatures and oil borne contamination.
  • Select a spring range where the desired relief setting is approximately mid-range to high between the minimum and maximum pressure to ensure maximum valve repeatability.
  • Suitable for use in load holding applications.
  • Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
