The Sun Hydraulics RDFAKEN (RDFAKEN) is a direct-acting relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients by limiting pressure rise when the inlet port reaches the valve setting. This valve opens to the tank port, throttling flow smoothly and quietly, with essentially zero leakage. It is dirt tolerant, immune to silting, and offers fast response times. All 2-port relief cartridges from Sun Hydraulics are interchangeable within the same frame size, allowing for versatile use in various hydraulic systems. The RDFAKEN model can accept maximum pressure at port 2, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits and load-holding applications. The valve is relatively insensitive to oil temperature variations and contamination. The adjustment of this valve requires pressure removal due to system exposure on the adjust screw seals. Optimal performance is achieved by selecting a spring range where the desired relief setting falls between midrange and high of its minimum and maximum pressure capabilities. Back pressure on port 2 adds directly to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. Configurations with EPDM seals are specifically for phosphate ester fluid systems, as exposure to petroleum-based substances can cause seal damage. Direct-acting relief cartridges are normally closed, pressure-limiting valves used to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to limit the pressure rise. These valves are smooth and quiet, essentially zero leak, dirt tolerant, immune to silting and are very fast.
