The Sun Hydraulics RDFAKEV (RDFAKEV) is a direct-acting relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens to tank port 2 when the inlet port 1 reaches the valve setting, throttling flow to limit pressure rise. Known for being smooth, quiet, and essentially zero-leak, this valve is dirt tolerant and immune to silting, offering rapid response times. The RDFAKEV is physically and functionally interchangeable with all 2-port relief cartridges except pilot reliefs, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits. It can handle maximum pressure at port 2 and is ideal for load-holding applications due to its relatively insensitivity to varying oil temperatures and contamination. The valve's seals on the adjust screw are exposed to system pressure, requiring adjustments only when the pressure is removed. Back pressure at tank port 2 is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. For optimal performance, select a spring range where the desired relief setting is midrange to high between minimum and maximum pressures.
