The Sun Hydraulics RDFALEV (Material Number: RDFALEV) is a direct-acting relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients by limiting pressure rise. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens to the tank port when the inlet pressure reaches the valve setting, ensuring smooth and quiet operation with essentially zero leakage. The RDFALEV is dirt tolerant, immune to silting, and offers rapid response times of approximately 2 milliseconds. It is interchangeable with other 2-port relief cartridges of the same frame size and can withstand maximum pressure at port 2, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits. This valve is particularly useful in load-holding applications and features a floating style construction that minimizes internal part binding due to installation torque or machining variations. The adjustment procedure requires removing system pressure before altering settings via an internal hex screw, with adjustments increasing setting through clockwise turns. The valve's insensitivity to oil temperature variations and contamination further enhances its reliability. Specifications include a capacity of 50 gpm (200 L/min), a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), and a reseat value at 90% of the setting.
