The Sun Hydraulics RDJAQEN (RDJAQEN) is a direct-acting relief cartridge valve designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve activates when the inlet port 1 reaches the set pressure, allowing flow to the tank port 2 to limit further pressure increases. Known for its smooth operation and quiet performance, this valve exhibits nearly zero leakage and is tolerant of dirt, making it immune to silting and very fast in response. With a capacity of 200 gpm (760 L/min) and a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), it is suitable for use in cross-port relief circuits and load-holding applications. The valve's design allows it to handle maximum pressure at port 2, with backpressure at this port being directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. The RDJAQEN features Sun's floating style construction to minimize binding due to installation torque or machining variations. It is relatively insensitive to changes in oil temperature and contamination, ensuring stable performance across varying conditions. For optimal repeatability, users should select a spring range where the desired relief setting falls within the midrange to high end between minimum and maximum pressures. The adjustment process requires system pressure removal before making changes. This model includes an internal hex size adjustment screw for precise tuning and can be configured with EPDM seals for systems using phosphate ester fluids; however, exposure to petroleum-based substances will damage these seals.
