The Sun Hydraulics RPCCCCV (Material Number: RPCCCCV) is a pilot-operated, balanced-piston relief cartridge designed as a pressure regulating valve. This valve remains normally closed until the inlet pressure at port 1 reaches the pre-set level, at which point it opens to tank port 2 to manage the flow and maintain regulated pressure. Notably accurate with low pressure rise relative to flow, this valve operates smoothly and quietly with moderate speed. The RPCCCCV can handle maximum pressure at port 2, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits, though spool leakage should be considered in such applications. It has a minimum setting of 75 psi (5 bar) across all spring ranges but is not recommended for load-holding applications due to potential leakage. Back pressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting in a 1:1 ratio. The main stage orifice is safeguarded against contamination, and EPDM-sealed cartridges are intended for systems using phosphate ester fluids only\u2014contact with petroleum-based products can damage these seals. The Sun floating style construction minimizes internal binding risks from excessive torque or machining variations. The cartridge fits into a T-162A cavity, supporting a series 0 capacity of up to 12 gpm (45 L/min). It operates under a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), with typical response times around 10 ms and minimal leakage rates of up to 2 in\u00b3/min at 110 SUS (24 cSt) viscosity. Adjustments require up to five clockwise turns, with specific torque settings for installation and locknut adjustments provided for optimal performance.

Pilot-operated, balanced-piston relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.
- All 2-port relief cartridges (except pilot reliefs) are physically and functionally interchangeable (same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
- Minimum setting is 75 psi (5 bar) for all spring ranges.
- Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
- Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
- The main stage orifice is protected against contamination.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
