The Sun Hydraulics RPCCLAE (RPCCLAE) is a pilot-operated, balanced-piston relief cartridge designed to function as a normally closed pressure regulating valve. When the inlet port 1 reaches the designated valve setting, it begins to open towards tank port 2, effectively throttling flow to maintain regulated pressure. Known for its accuracy and low pressure rise versus flow, this valve operates smoothly and quietly with moderate speed. It is physically and functionally interchangeable with other 2-port relief cartridges of the same frame size, except for pilot reliefs, offering the same flow path and cavity. The RPCCLAE can accept maximum pressure at port 2, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits; however, spool leakage should be considered in such applications. It is not recommended for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage. The valve's back pressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. The main stage orifice is contamination-protected, and cartridges with EPDM seals are intended for systems using phosphate ester fluids but will be damaged by petroleum-based substances.
