The Sun Hydraulics RPCCLNE (RPCCLNE) is a pilot-operated, balanced-piston relief cartridge designed for pressure regulation. These valves are normally closed and begin to open to the tank port when the inlet pressure reaches the set point, effectively throttling flow to maintain desired pressure levels. Known for their accuracy, these cartridges offer a low pressure rise versus flow, ensuring smooth and quiet operation with moderately fast response times. They are interchangeable with other 2-port relief cartridges of the same frame size and flow path, making them versatile for various applications. The RPCCLNE model can accept maximum pressure at port 2, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits while considering potential spool leakage. However, it is not recommended for load-holding applications due to this leakage characteristic. The minimum setting for all spring ranges is 75 psi (5 bar), and back pressure on the tank port directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. The main stage orifice is protected against contamination, enhancing durability. Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids but should not be exposed to petroleum-based substances as this can damage the seals. The valve features Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal binding due to installation torque or machining variations. With a cavity size of T-162A and a capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min), this model operates at a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and typically responds within 10 milliseconds. Valve installation requires specific torques: hex size is 3/4 inch (19.1 mm), with an adjustment screw internal hex size of 5/32 inch (4 mm). The locknut has a hex size of 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) with specified torque requirements. A Viton seal kit (990162006) is available for maintenance needs.
