The Sun Hydraulics RPCCLWE (RPCCLWE) is a pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed as a pressure regulating valve. It is normally closed and begins to open to tank port 2 when the pressure at inlet port 1 reaches the valve's set point, thereby throttling flow to maintain regulated pressure. Known for its accuracy and smooth operation, this valve offers low pressure rise versus flow and moderate speed. All two-port relief cartridges, excluding pilot reliefs, are interchangeable with the same flow path and cavity for a given frame size. The RPCCLWE can accept maximum pressure at port 2, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits; however, spool leakage should be considered in such applications. The minimum setting is 75 psi (5 bar) across all spring ranges. It is not recommended for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage. Back pressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio, while the main stage orifice is contamination-protected. Cartridges equipped with EPDM seals are compatible with phosphate ester fluids but should avoid petroleum-based substances to prevent seal damage. Featuring Sun's floating style construction, this design minimizes internal binding risks due to installation torque or machining variations. The cartridge fits into Cavity T-162A with a capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min) and factory settings established at 4 gpm (15 L/min). It operates under pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar) with a typical response time of 10 ms and maximum leakage of 2 in\u00b3/min at 1000 psi (30 cc/min at 70 bar). Adjustments can be made by turning clockwise up to five times for increased settings. Installation requires specific torque values: valve hex size is .34 in (19.1 mm), installation torque ranges from 20-25 lbf-ft (27-33 Nm), adjustment screw internal hex size is .532 in (4 mm), locknut hex size is .5 in (12.7 mm), and locknut torque ranges from 80-90 lbf-in (9-10 Nm). The model weighs .20 lb (.10 kg), and Viton seal kits are available under part number 990162006.

Pilot-operated, balanced-piston relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.
- All 2-port relief cartridges (except pilot reliefs) are physically and functionally interchangeable (same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
- Minimum setting is 75 psi (5 bar) for all spring ranges.
- Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
- Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
- The main stage orifice is protected against contamination.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
