The Sun Hydraulics RPECQEN (RPECQEN) is a pilot-operated, balanced-piston relief cartridge designed for precise pressure regulation. This normally closed valve opens to the tank port when inlet pressure reaches the set threshold, effectively throttling flow to maintain desired pressure levels. Notably accurate and smooth, these valves offer low pressure rise versus flow and are moderately fast in response. All 2-port relief cartridges are interchangeable within the same frame size, allowing for flexible application across systems, especially in cross-port relief circuits where maximum pressure at port 2 is permissible. However, it is important to consider spool leakage in such configurations. The main stage orifice of the RPECQEN is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, ensuring durability and reliability. While not suitable for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage, this cartridge can handle back pressure on the tank port directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. For systems using phosphate ester fluids, EPDM seals are available but should not be exposed to petroleum-based substances as they may cause damage. RPECQEN valves feature adjustable settings throughout their full range via W or Y controls unless specified otherwise with a special setting that denotes the maximum valve setting. Designed with corrosion resistance in mind, options include external stainless steel components (suffix AP) or zinc-nickel plating (suffix LH). The Sun floating style construction minimizes internal part binding risks due to installation torque or machining variations. This Series 1 cartridge fits Cavity T-10A and offers a capacity of up to 25 gpm (95 L/min), with factory pressure settings established at 4 gpm (15 L/min). It operates efficiently up to a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), featuring typical response times of approximately 10 ms and minimal leakage rates.

Pilot-operated, balanced-piston relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.

  • All 2-port relief cartridges (except pilot reliefs) are physically and functionally interchangeable (same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
  • Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
