The Sun Hydraulics RPEECEV (RPEECEV) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. These normally closed, pressure-limiting valves are engineered for rapid opening and closing, making them highly effective in applications where speed is prioritized over smoothness. The valve opens to tank port 2 when the inlet port 1 pressure reaches the set threshold, throttling flow to manage pressure increases. It features a low-pressure rise versus flow and responds swiftly with a typical response time of 2 milliseconds. The RPEECEV can handle maximum pressure at port 2 and is suitable for cross-port relief circuits; however, spool leakage must be considered in such applications. This model is not recommended for load-holding applications due to potential leakage issues. Equipped with a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, the RPEECEV ensures durability and reliability. The back pressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. All two-port relief cartridges, except pilot reliefs, are interchangeable within the same frame size regarding flow path and cavity dimensions. The valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. The RPEECEV has a capacity of 25 gpm (95 L/min) and operates at a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). It has an adjustment range facilitated by five clockwise turns for increased settings and features an internal hex size of 5/32 inches (4 mm) for adjustment screws. The valve's installation requires specific torque settings: valve hex size at 7/8 inches (22.2 mm) with torque between 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm), and locknut hex size at 9/16 inches (15 mm) with torque between 80-90 lbf in (9-10 Nm).
