The Sun Hydraulics RPEEFEV (RPEEFEV) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens quickly at the expense of smoothness when the inlet port 1 reaches the set pressure, directing flow to tank port 2 to limit pressure rise. It is characterized by a low pressure rise versus flow and rapid response time of approximately 2 milliseconds. The valve can handle a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and has a capacity of 25 gpm (95 L/min). It is suitable for cross-port relief circuits but not recommended for load-holding applications due to spool leakage. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, ensuring reliability in operation. Additionally, back pressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. The RPEEFEV model incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize potential binding from installation torque or cavity machining variations. For installation, this cartridge requires a T-10A cavity and has specific torque requirements: valve installation torque ranges from 30 to 35 lbf-ft (41 to 47 Nm), while the locknut requires between 80 and 90 lbf-in (9 to 10 Nm). Adjustment is made via an internal hex screw with five full clockwise turns needed to increase settings. The valve's design allows it to be interchangeable with other two-port relief cartridges within the same frame size and flow path. Its compact design weighs just .30 lb (0.15 kg), making it an efficient component for various hydraulic systems requiring precise and rapid pressure regulation.

Fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges are normally closed, pressure-limiting valves used to protect hydraulics components from pressure transients. Fast opening and closing is gained at the expense of smoothness. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to limit the pressure rise. These valves have low pressure rise vs. flow and are very fast.

  • Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
  • Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
  • Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
  • Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
  • All 2-port relief cartridges (except pilot reliefs) are physically and functionally interchangeable (same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
  • W and Y controls (where applicable) can be specified with or without a special setting. When no special setting is specified, the valve is adjustable throughout its full range using the W or Y control. When a special setting is specified, this setting represents the maximum setting of the valve.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
