The Sun Hydraulics RPEEJNN (Material Number: RPEEJNN) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed for pressure-limiting applications in hydraulic systems. This normally closed valve protects hydraulic components from pressure transients by opening to the tank port when the inlet pressure reaches the valve setting, thus throttling flow to limit pressure rise. The valve is characterized by its rapid response time of approximately 2 milliseconds and low-pressure rise versus flow, making it highly efficient in managing sudden pressure changes. It features a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen and accepts maximum pressure at port 2, making it suitable for cross port relief circuits. However, due to spool leakage, it is not recommended for load-holding applications. The RPEEJNN valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal part binding due to installation torque or machining variations. It operates with a maximum capacity of 25 gpm (95 L/min) and can withstand a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The adjustment mechanism allows for five clockwise turns to increase the setting, with an internal hex size of 5/32 inches (4 mm) for the adjustment screw. The valve's installation requires a torque of 30–35 lbf ft (41–47 Nm), while the locknut requires a torque of 80–90 lbf in (9–10 Nm). Physically and functionally interchangeable with other two-port relief cartridges within its frame size, the RPEEJNN model ensures compatibility and ease of integration into existing systems. Its design allows backpressure on tank port 2 to be directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio, providing precise control over system pressures.

Fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges are normally closed, pressure-limiting valves used to protect hydraulics components from pressure transients. Fast opening and closing is gained at the expense of smoothness. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to limit the pressure rise. These valves have low pressure rise vs. flow and are very fast.

• Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
• Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
• Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
• Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
• All 2-port relief cartridges (except pilot reliefs) are physically and functionally interchangeable (same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
• W and Y controls (where applicable) can be specified with or without a special setting. When no special setting is specified, the valve is adjustable throughout its full range using the W or Y control. When a special setting is specified, this setting represents the maximum setting of the valve.
• Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
