The Sun Hydraulics RPEEJWN (RPEEJWN) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens quickly when the inlet port 1 pressure reaches the valve setting, diverting flow to tank port 2 to limit pressure rise. The valve is characterized by its low-pressure rise versus flow and rapid response time of approximately 2 milliseconds. It can handle a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and has a capacity of 25 gpm (95 L/min). This model features a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen and is not suitable for load holding applications due to spool leakage considerations. The back pressure on tank port 2 directly affects the valve setting in a 1:1 ratio. All two-port relief cartridges from Sun are interchangeable in terms of flow path and cavity size for similar frame sizes. The installation requires specific torque settings: valve installation torque ranges from 30 to 35 lbf ft (41 to 47 Nm), while the locknut requires a torque of 80 to 90 lbf in (9 to 10 Nm).
