The Sun Hydraulics RPEETBN (RPEETBN) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens quickly when the inlet port pressure reaches the valve setting, allowing flow to the tank port to limit further pressure rise. It features a low pressure rise versus flow and offers rapid response times typical of 2 ms. The valve is suitable for applications that require maximum pressure acceptance at port 2, such as cross-port relief circuits; however, spool leakage should be considered in these scenarios. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, ensuring durability and reliability. The RPEETBN model is not recommended for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage. It incorporates Sun's floating style construction to reduce the risk of internal parts binding from excessive installation torque or machining variations. With a cavity size of T-10A and a capacity of 25 gpm (95 L/min), this cartridge operates at a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). It allows adjustments through clockwise turns with an internal hex size of 5/32 in., while installation requires a torque between 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm). The valve is physically and functionally interchangeable with other two-port relief cartridges within its frame size, ensuring versatility in various hydraulic systems. Additional features include backpressure on the tank port being directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and compatibility with W and Y controls for adjustable settings.
