The Sun Hydraulics RPEETCN (RPEETCN) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens quickly to the tank port when the inlet port pressure reaches the valve setting, effectively throttling flow to limit pressure rise. It is particularly suitable for cross port relief circuits due to its capability of accepting maximum pressure at port 2; however, it should be noted that spool leakage needs consideration in such applications. The valve features a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen and is not recommended for load holding applications due to potential leakage. The design allows back pressure on the tank port to add directly to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. All two-port relief cartridges are interchangeable within their frame size, maintaining consistent flow paths and cavity compatibility. This model incorporates Sun's floating style construction, minimizing risks of internal binding from excessive installation torque or machining variations. It has a capacity of 25 gpm (95 L/min) and operates at a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), with typical response times around 2 ms. The valve's maximum leakage rate is minimal at specified conditions, ensuring efficient operation. Adjustments can be made through five clockwise turns using an internal hex screw for precise control over settings. Installation requires specific torque values for both the valve and locknut to ensure secure placement. The RPEETCN model weighs approximately .30 lb (.15 kg) and is equipped with Viton seals for reliable performance under various conditions.

Fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges are normally closed, pressure-limiting valves used to protect hydraulics components from pressure transients. Fast opening and closing is gained at the expense of smoothness. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to limit the pressure rise. These valves have low pressure rise vs. flow and are very fast.
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
- Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
- Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
- All 2-port relief cartridges (except pilot reliefs) are physically and functionally interchangeable (same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
- W and Y controls (where applicable) can be specified with or without a special setting. When no special setting is specified, the valve is adjustable throughout its full range using the W or Y control. When a special setting is specified, this setting represents the maximum setting of the valve.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
