The Sun Hydraulics RPEETDV (RPEETDV) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens quickly at the expense of smooth operation, making it ideal for applications where rapid response is critical. When the inlet port pressure reaches the valve setting, it opens to the tank port, throttling flow to limit pressure rise. The RPEETDV can handle maximum pressure at port 2 and is suitable for cross-port relief circuits. However, it should not be used in load-holding applications due to spool leakage. The main stage orifice of this valve is protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen. It features a backpressure on the tank port that directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. The RPEETDV uses Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal binding risks due to installation torque or machining variations. With a capacity of 25 gpm (95 L/min) and a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), this valve provides reliable performance in demanding environments. Adjustments are made using W or Y controls and can be set throughout the full range unless specified otherwise for special settings. The typical response time is 2 ms with maximum valve leakage at 2 in\u00b3/min at 1000 psi (30 cc/min at 70 bar). Installation requires specific torques and hex sizes for adjustment screws and locknuts, ensuring secure and accurate setup. This model weighs .30 lb (0.15 kg) and uses Viton seal kits for durability under various conditions.

Fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges are normally closed, pressure-limiting valves used to protect hydraulics components from pressure transients. Fast opening and closing is gained at the expense of smoothness. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to limit the pressure rise. These valves have low pressure rise vs. flow and are very fast.
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
- Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
- Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
- All 2-port relief cartridges (except pilot reliefs) are physically and functionally interchangeable (same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
- W and Y controls (where applicable) can be specified with or without a special setting. When no special setting is specified, the valve is adjustable throughout its full range using the W or Y control. When a special setting is specified, this setting represents the maximum setting of the valve.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
