The Sun Hydraulics RPESCBV (RPESCBV) is a pilot-operated, balanced poppet relief cartridge, designed for precise pressure regulation in hydraulic systems. This normally closed valve opens to the tank port when the inlet pressure reaches its set threshold, effectively throttling flow to maintain regulated pressure. Known for its accuracy and smooth operation, the RPESCBV is characterized by a low-pressure rise relative to flow, making it suitable for applications where quiet and fast response is critical. It features internal modulation that minimizes noise and manifold erosion caused by cavitation, enhancing longevity and reliability. The valve can handle maximum pressures at port 2, making it ideal for cross-port relief circuits. It remains stable under varying oil temperatures and contamination levels due to a 150-micron stainless steel screen protecting the main stage orifice. The RPESCBV is also effective in load-holding applications; however, any back pressure on tank port 2 adds directly to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. The design incorporates Sun's floating style construction to prevent internal binding from installation torque or machining variations. With a capacity of 25 gpm (95 L/min) and a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), this cartridge offers reliable performance with minimal leakage\u2014up to 10 drops/min at 110 SUS (24 cSt). The valve allows adjustment through W or Y controls across its full range unless a special setting is specified as the maximum limit. Installation requires specific torque settings for various components, ensuring optimal performance and durability in demanding environments.

Pilot-operated, balanced-poppet relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. These valves are accurate, smooth, quiet, fast, and have low pressure rise vs. flow.
- Because the modulating occurs inside the cartridge, these valves are immune to most of the problems associated with cavitation, namely noise and manifold erosion.
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits.
- Valve is relatively insensitive to varying oil temperatures and oil borne contamination.
- Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Suitable for use in load holding applications.
- Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
- W and Y controls (where applicable) can be specified with or without a special setting. When no special setting is specified, the valve is adjustable throughout its full range using the W or Y control. When a special setting is specified, this setting represents the maximum setting of the valve.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
