The Sun Hydraulics RPESLCV (RPESLCV) is a pilot-operated, balanced-poppet relief cartridge valve designed to regulate pressure within hydraulic systems. Engineered to be normally closed, this valve opens when the inlet port 1 reaches a pre-set pressure, channeling flow to tank port 2 to maintain the desired pressure level. Known for its accuracy and smooth operation, the RPESLCV offers fast response times and minimal noise due to its internal modulation that mitigates cavitation issues. It is suitable for cross-port relief circuits as it can handle maximum pressure at port 2 and is effective in load-holding applications. This valve's design ensures reliability even under varying oil temperatures and contamination levels, aided by a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen. The RPESLCV features Sun's floating style construction, reducing risks of internal binding due to installation variances. It has an adjustable setting range facilitated by W and Y controls, with options for special settings if needed. With a cavity T-10A series 1 capacity of 25 gpm (95 L/min), the RPESLCV operates at a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and exhibits typical response times of around 7 ms. The valve's leakage rate is minimal at up to 10 drops/minute at 110 SUS (24 cSt). Installation requires specific torque values: valve installation torque ranges from 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm), while the locknut torque is between 80-90 lbf in (9-10 Nm). The compact design includes an adjustment screw with an internal hex size of 5/32 inch (4 mm) and a locknut hex size of 9/16 inch (15 mm). Weighing just .30 lb (.15 kg), this cartridge valve also comes with an optional Viton seal kit for enhanced durability.

Pilot-operated, balanced-poppet relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. These valves are accurate, smooth, quiet, fast, and have low pressure rise vs. flow.
- Because the modulating occurs inside the cartridge, these valves are immune to most of the problems associated with cavitation, namely noise and manifold erosion.
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits.
- Valve is relatively insensitive to varying oil temperatures and oil borne contamination.
- Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Suitable for use in load holding applications.
- Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
- W and Y controls (where applicable) can be specified with or without a special setting. When no special setting is specified, the valve is adjustable throughout its full range using the W or Y control. When a special setting is specified, this setting represents the maximum setting of the valve.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
