The Sun Hydraulics RPESYQN (Material Number: RPESYQN) is a pilot-operated, balanced poppet relief cartridge valve designed for precise pressure regulation. This normally closed valve opens to the tank port when the inlet pressure reaches the set threshold, effectively throttling flow to maintain desired pressure levels. It features a smooth and quiet operation with quick response times and low pressure rise relative to flow, making it suitable for load holding applications. The design incorporates a 150-micron stainless steel screen protecting the main stage orifice, ensuring reliability even in environments with oil-borne contaminants or varying oil temperatures. The valve can withstand maximum pressure at port 2 and is ideal for cross-port relief circuits. Its construction minimizes internal binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. The RPESYQN model can be adjusted throughout its range using W or Y controls, with an option for special settings that define the maximum setting of the valve. It operates at a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and has a capacity of 25 gpm (95 L/min). With a typical response time of 7 milliseconds and minimal leakage at standard conditions, this valve is both efficient and reliable. Installation requires specific torque values, ensuring secure fitting without risk of damage during setup. The compact design weighs just 0.30 lb (0.15 kg), making it easy to integrate into various hydraulic systems where precise pressure control is critical.

Pilot-operated, balanced-poppet relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. These valves are accurate, smooth, quiet, fast, and have low pressure rise vs. flow.
- Because the modulating occurs inside the cartridge, these valves are immune to most of the problems associated with cavitation, namely noise and manifold erosion.
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits.
- Valve is relatively insensitive to varying oil temperatures and oil borne contamination.
- Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Suitable for use in load holding applications.
- Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
- W and Y controls (where applicable) can be specified with or without a special setting. When no special setting is specified, the valve is adjustable throughout its full range using the W or Y control. When a special setting is specified, this setting represents the maximum setting of the valve.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
