The Sun Hydraulics RPETCCN (Material Number: RPETCCN) is a pilot-operated, anti-shock relief cartridge designed to limit maximum system pressure and control the rate of pressure rise. This valve opens and ramps closed at a constant speed, independent of settings and flows, providing reliable pressure management in hydraulic systems. The adjust screw allows for setting the maximum relief and minimum threshold pressures. All 2-port relief cartridges, except pilot reliefs, are interchangeable with the same flow path and cavity for a given frame size. This valve can handle maximum pressure at port 2, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits but not for load-holding applications. When inlet port 1 pressure exceeds the threshold setting, the valve opens to tank port 2, with the pilot section moving forward steadily to increase the setting by compressing its spring until it reaches a mechanical stop. The RPETCCN provides protection against pressure transients due to sudden load changes in pumps and motors, particularly useful with variable displacement pumps where displacement mechanisms may lag behind these transients. It also reduces jerks caused by sudden reversals in hydrostatic drives and is suitable for cross-port applications. When used with a switching device, it can mimic ramp characteristics typical of proportional valves. It allows small power units to start against an anti-shock relief, extending pump life. The valve features Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. It operates within a cavity T-10A series 1 capacity of 25 gpm (95 L/min) at a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The response time is typically around 2 ms with an adjustment range of four and a half clockwise turns to increase settings. The valve weighs approximately .30 lb (0.15 kg) and includes Viton seal kit option number 990310006 for enhanced durability in various applications.

Pilot-operated, anti shock relief cartridges limit maximum system pressure and also limit the rate of pressure rise. The valve opens and then ramps closed at a constant speed, independent of settings and flows. The adjust screw determines the maximum (relief) setting and the minimum (threshold) setting.
- All 2-port relief cartridges (except pilot reliefs) are physically and functionally interchangeable (same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits.
- Not suitable for use in load holding applications.
- When pressure at the inlet (port 1) exceeds the threshold setting, the valve opens to tank (port 2). The pilot section moves forward at a steady rate, increasing the setting by compressing the pilot spring. Maximum setting is achieved when the pilot section reaches a mechanical stop.
- Valve provides protection for pumps and motors from pressure transients due to sudden load changes, especially variable displacement pumps, since the displacement mechanism is sometimes too slow to catch these pressure transients.
- Valve provides protection for hydrostatic drives by reducing the jerk caused by sudden reversals. The valve is suitable for cross-port applications.
- When used with a switching device, the valve can provide the ramp characteristic typically provided by proportional valves.
- Small power units can be started against an anti shock relief to provide longer pump life.
- Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
