The Sun Hydraulics RPGCLGN (RPGCLGN) is a pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed as a normally closed pressure regulating valve. When inlet port 1 reaches the designated pressure setting, the valve begins to open to tank port 2, effectively throttling flow to maintain regulated pressure. This valve is recognized for its accuracy, low pressure rise versus flow, smooth operation, quiet performance, and moderate response speed. It is interchangeable with all other 2-port relief cartridges (except pilot reliefs) within the same frame size due to identical flow paths and cavity dimensions. The RPGCLGN can handle maximum pressure at port 2, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits; however, users should consider potential spool leakage in such applications. The main stage orifice features protection by a 150-micron stainless steel screen but is not recommended for load-holding applications due to possible leakage. Backpressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.
