The Sun Hydraulics RPGECQV (RPGECQV) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens rapidly at the expense of smoothness to throttle flow and limit pressure rise when the inlet port's pressure reaches the valve setting. The valve features low pressure rise versus flow and operates with exceptional speed, having a typical response time of just 2 milliseconds. It is suitable for cross port relief circuits as it accepts maximum pressure at port 2; however, users should consider spool leakage in these applications. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, but the valve is not suitable for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage. This cartridge incorporates Sun's floating style construction to reduce internal parts binding from excessive installation torque or cavity machining variations. Back pressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. Cartridges with EPDM seals are compatible with systems using phosphate ester fluids but should avoid petroleum-based fluids as they can damage the seals. The RPGECQV fits into a T-3A cavity and has a capacity of up to 50 gpm (200 L/min) with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). It allows for adjustment with five clockwise turns and has specific installation torque requirements.
