The Sun Hydraulics RPGEJKN (RPGEJKN) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens quickly to tank port 2 when the inlet port 1 pressure reaches the set limit, effectively throttling flow to control pressure rise. This model is known for its low pressure rise versus flow and rapid response time of typically 2 ms. It features a main stage orifice safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen and incorporates Sun's floating style construction to reduce internal binding risks due to installation torque or machining variations. The RPGEJKN is physically and functionally interchangeable with other 2-port relief cartridges, maintaining the same flow path and cavity for a given frame size. It can accept maximum pressure at port 2, making it suitable for cross port relief circuits; however, spool leakage should be considered in such applications. The cartridge is not recommended for load-holding applications due to potential leakage. Back pressure at tank port 2 adds directly to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. This cartridge has a capacity of 50 gpm (200 L/min) and operates at a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). (28.6 mm), with an installation torque of 45-50 lbf ft (61-68 Nm). The adjustment screw has an internal hex size of 5/32 in. (4 mm), while the locknut hex size is 9/16 in. (15 mm) with a torque range of 80-90 lbf in. (9-10 Nm).
