The Sun Hydraulics RPGEJSV (RPGEJSV) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed for protecting hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens quickly to the tank port when the inlet pressure reaches its set point, effectively throttling flow to limit pressure rise. The RPGEJSV is known for its low-pressure rise versus flow and rapid response time of approximately 2 milliseconds. It is physically and functionally interchangeable with other 2-port relief cartridges of the same frame size, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits while considering spool leakage. The main stage orifice is shielded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, however, it is not recommended for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage. This cartridge can handle a maximum operating pressure of up to 5000 psi (350 bar) and has a capacity of 50 gpm (200 L/min). It features an adjustable setting with up to five clockwise turns required to increase the setting and incorporates Sun's floating style construction to prevent internal binding from excessive installation torque or machining variations. Fast opening and closing is gained at the expense of smoothness. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to limit the pressure rise.
