The Sun Hydraulics RPGELNN (RPGELNN) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed for protecting hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens to tank port 2 when the inlet port 1 pressure reaches the set point, effectively throttling flow to limit pressure rise. The RPGELNN is not suitable for load-holding applications due to spool leakage but can be used in cross-port relief circuits with consideration of spool leakage. Fast opening and closing is gained at the expense of smoothness. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to limit the pressure rise. These valves have low pressure rise vs. flow and are very fast.
