The Sun Hydraulics RPGEODN (Material Number: RPGEODN) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed for hydraulic systems requiring rapid pressure response. These normally closed, pressure-limiting valves are engineered to safeguard hydraulic components from pressure transients by quickly opening and closing to manage flow and limit pressure rise when the inlet port reaches the valve setting. The RPGEODN model features low pressure rise versus flow characteristics, making it highly efficient and responsive with a typical response time of 2 milliseconds. It is suitable for cross-port relief circuits as it can handle maximum pressure at port 2; however, spool leakage should be considered in such applications. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, ensuring durability and reliability in operation. This cartridge valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction to reduce the risk of internal binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. It has a capacity of 50 gpm (200 L/min) and can operate at pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar). The valve's design includes EPDM seals for systems using phosphate ester fluids but should avoid petroleum-based substances that could damage the seals. With an installation torque range of 45-50 lbf ft (61-68 Nm), this model offers ease of adjustment with an internal hex size of 5/32 inches (4 mm) for the adjustment screw and a locknut torque specification of 80-90 lbf in (9-10 Nm). This product is not recommended for load holding applications due to potential spool leakage.
