The Sun Hydraulics RPGEOEV (RPGEOEV) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. These normally closed, pressure-limiting valves open rapidly to relieve excess pressure but may sacrifice smoothness in operation. When the inlet port 1 reaches the set pressure, the valve opens to tank port 2, throttling flow to control the pressure rise. Known for their low pressure rise versus flow and rapid response time of approximately 2 ms, these valves are highly efficient. They fit into a T-3A cavity and are part of Series 2 with a capacity of up to 50 gpm (200 L/min). The maximum operating pressure is rated at 5000 psi (350 bar), with a factory setting established at 4 gpm (15 L/min). The RPGEOEV valve is suitable for cross-port relief circuits but not for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage. It features a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen and incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal binding risks. The valve accepts maximum pressure at port 2 and has an adjustment range of five clockwise turns to increase the setting. The installation torque ranges from 45 to 50 lbf ft (61 to 68 Nm), and it comes with specific hex size requirements for adjustments and locknut torque specifications. Cartridges configured with EPDM seals should be used exclusively in systems with phosphate ester fluids, as petroleum-based fluids can damage these seals.
