The Sun Hydraulics RPGEOKV (RPGEOKV) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed valve opens rapidly to throttle flow once the inlet port pressure reaches the valve setting, effectively limiting pressure rise. Notable for its low pressure rise versus flow and quick response time of approximately 2 milliseconds, the RPGEOKV is suitable for applications requiring rapid opening and closing actions. It features a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen and is not intended for load-holding applications due to spool leakage. The valve can handle a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and has a capacity of up to 50 gpm (200 L/min). It is compatible with cross port relief circuits but requires consideration of spool leakage in such setups. The RPGEOKV incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal part binding from installation torque or machining variations.
