The Sun Hydraulics RPGEQKN (RPGEQKN) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens to the tank port when the inlet pressure reaches the valve setting, effectively throttling flow to limit pressure rise. It features a rapid response time of approximately 2 milliseconds and is capable of handling a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The valve's design includes a 150-micron stainless steel screen protecting the main stage orifice and EPDM seals for use with phosphate ester fluids, though these seals are not compatible with petroleum-based substances. This relief cartridge is particularly suitable for cross-port relief circuits due to its ability to accept maximum pressure at port 2; however, spool leakage should be considered in such applications. It is not recommended for load-holding applications. The back pressure on the tank port directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
